Week 5 ( Last one at the Mexico MTC)

Week number six has finally arrived. I can’t believe how fast being here has gone. I look back and can see how much progress I’ve made while being here and it’s just amazing. Yesterday, March 5th my companion and I had the chance to teach a real investigator during TRC. We were both scared to death and super nervous. The lesson kind of started out a little rough but as we started talking to him more we found out he wanted to know more about the plan of salvation, especially the afterlife. We taught him and he asked quite a few questions and we answered them all. We ended up committing him to baptism and it was an amazing experience!

It really is soo important to teach by the Holy Ghost and be able to teach a full lesson in Spanish. Although it is most times a love/hate relationship this language is amazing and I love it, just can’t wait for the day when I’m fluent ha-ha :) Thank you all for your support and I can’t wait to head out to Quito on Monday! You’re all in my prayers daily. I know the lord loves each and every one of us and when we strive to be our best he will bless us, beyond measure!

Week 4

Oh my! I can't believe it's been 4 weeks already! Only 2 more days and he will be at the 1 month mark:)
Here's his weekly email. I know it's short but we'll take what we can get.

Well I’m now on my Fifth week here and the days are getting less and less till I leave for Ecuador. I’m really excited about being able to go out into the real world but then I remember it’s the real world and it won’t be anything like here. I can’t wait for all the great experiences ill have and be able to learn actual Spanish not this baby talk that they teach us here :P My teacher keeps telling us that in Quito they speak really fast and it’s hard to understand but he also told us that the broncos won the superbowl soo idk what to believe ha-ha I am still learning a lot every day and enjoying my time here. I get along with my companion really good and he’s really motivated and helps keep me motivated as well :) I love you all and thank all of you for all your support and everything you do for me and my family your all in my prayers every day! I’m already looking forward to next week :)

Week 3

We were able to email back and forth a little with Kaiden at about 6:30 this morning. It was nice because Daren and the girls were able to chat for a minute before going to work/school. He sounds great! He still hasn't gotten any of the hand written letters that we have sent him:( Not sure what's taking them so long!!
Here's his weekly email:)  Sherri

Well it’s the third week in the MTC and time is flying by. The days sort of blend together and I just go about following my schedule. My ability to speak and understand Spanish grows each day and my love for this gospel grows along with it. When you learn a new language and preach the gospel in that language you develop new views of it and it builds you as a person. Although it is very tough to learn Spanish I love the language and can’t wait till I can say whatever I want! Today my district was able to go to the Mexico City temple and the new visitors center there. It was such an amazing experience even though the temple was closed. The visitors center was so amazing and beautiful! As the time grows near when I leave to Ecuador I get more excited and more nervous. I can’t wait for the amazing experiences that await me! Love you all and thanks for all the support I am given!!

Week 2

Here's the E-Mail that we got from Kaiden today:)

Second week in the MTC or CCM as we call it here. Glad to have another week down with my Spanish growing better by the day. The days are up and down, just depends on the time of day haha. This week we actually had more American-ish food which was nice and it actually had some flavor. It’s great to be somewhere where the weather is pretty much always nice (sorry for all you who are in the snow) :P

My testimony of the truthfulness of this gospel grows stronger each day! I love all my companions and we may have disagreements but they’re still friends to me. I really can’t wait to be able to go out to Quito and start teaching real people, although at the same time it’s kind of  scary :P Love you all and your all in my prayers every day!!

WEEK 1 - Kaiden's P-Days are on Thursdays!!

Well, this has been the longest week EVER waiting to hear from Kaiden!! We found out that his P-days are on Thursdays:) I was able to chat with him for a few minutes through e-mail so that was nice. I guess he got one of his horrible migraines yesterday and he was down for most of the day. Anyone who has ever witnessed one of his migraines knows how miserable he feels:( He usually can't lift his head and he gets huge blind spots in his vision. Hopefully he won't have too many of those to deal with! Keep him in your prayers please! Well, heres his e-mails. They are shorter than I was hoping but hopefully the longer he is there, the more details we will hear about! Sorry if they seem scattered... we were chatting in between.  Sherri

"Hey! Sorry it’s taken so long but today is my p day and its seemed like forever since I’ve been able to talk to anyone. That’s really unfortunate to hear about those officers and the snow but the weather down here is great! just learning and been really busy although yesterday I got pretty sick with a migraine and nausea but today I’m a lot better!"

"Well First week down everyone, the hardest part is now out of the way :) I have already learned soo much in just being here for a week and it has been far from easy. I can now say a lot more things in Spanish and I can pray and testify in Spanish! It still is a really big struggle being able to say what I want to as my vocabulary is still very limited but we manage when we teach our investigators. The temperature is absolutely great down here and it is very different from being in Utah, but in a good way. I have learned just how much we need to rely on the lord here and without him we are nothing. The food here is... alright kinda depends on the day. the Mexican food pretty much all tastes the same but we did get cake and Costco pizza one day so that was great. I know that I am doing the right thing being down here and we just gotta stay strong and it will be great! love you all and can’t wait to be able to tell you my experiences in person in two years :)"

The sunsets are Beautiful! These are the guys we shared an apartment with but they left on Monday to go to Monterey Mexico.
